And I'm Editor-in-Chief and Autocrat of Spec-Lit , a more-or-less-annual anthology I persuaded Columbia College to fund, which showcases the best SF of my students as well as some classic stories that haven't seen print in a long time. Alex: Put on SF art exhibits at many cons, including Atlanta WorldCon (1986), Minicon (1996), Chicon 2000, and various regionals, including Kubla Khan and Windycon. Gave gala slide presentation on "2001: A Space Odyssey" at MidAmeriCon (1976) and reprised it at Conquest (2001). First contact with fandom: 1961 (Phyllis).

Tentokráte se pøiznám hned na zaèátku - tuhle recenzi odfláknu, protože základní dìj (tedy jeho kostra) je tak jednoznaèný a pøímoèarý, že buï recenzi pøeètete a knihu si KOUPÍTE nebo recenzi pøeètete a uznáte, že to NEMUSÍTE. Žili byli èarodìjové a mezi nimi také èarodìj a vládce démonù Režyk (žijící v démony vytvoøeném hradì jménem Kovárna prstenù) ucházející se o ruku èarodejnice Deliev vládnoucí všemu, co bylo utkané a dle toho i zvané Pøadlena. Jelikož byl s definitivní platností odmítnut, zaèal se bát odvety ze strany Pøadleny a tak se rozhodl vlastními silami si utkat kouzelnou zlatou košili, která by ho chránila pøed možným magickým útokem Pøadleny. Aby to však mohl provést, musel oslabit její magické síly. Povolá proto svého nejmilejšího démona (ohnì) Gildruma, dá mu podobu pøekrásného rytíøe a své sémì, aby paní Pøedlenu pøivedl do jiného stavu a tím narušil její magickou auru. Stane se, ale narozdíl od oèekávání nechá Pøadlena dítì porodit a vychovává jej v hradì plném kouzel bez kontaktu s vnìjším svìtem. Touha stát se rytíøem vede k tomu, že syn èarodìjky Pøadleny (zvaný Cray) se rozhodne vydat do svìta za zkušenostmi a také najít otce. Od tohoto okamžiku se odvíjí èást, ve které Cray jezdí sem, tam (a zase zpìt), pøièemž se svého otce (èi jeho pozùstatkù) stále nemùže dopátrat. Nakonec se tedy (proti svému pùvodnímu pøesvìdèení) rozhodne vystudovat magické umìní pøivolávání démonù, aby mohl nechat démona zjistit svého otce. Jeho uèitelem není nikdo jiný, než jeho otec Režyk, který se však všemožnì snaží studia Crayovi znechutit natolik, aby jich zanechal. Bohužel netuší, že se proti nìmu spiknul jeho nejvìrnìjší démon (ale taky otrok jeho prstenu) Gildrum, kterého neustále pronásleduje a užírá vzpomínka na Pøadlenu a láska k ní (i jejímu/jeho potomkovi). Tajnì tak pomáhá Crayovi odhalit taje démonologie za slib, že jej Cray osvobodí.
